چکیده
This paper describes an experimental investigation, by means of hot-wire anemometry, the characteristics velocity and temperature in a rotating turbulent boundary layer under isothermal non-isothermal conditions. The ranges parameters are as follows: Reynolds number from 10 000 to 25 000, rotational speed 0 150 rpm, y+ 1.8 100. relative difference is held constant at 0.1. Detailed distributions measured state, new criterion for segmentation rotation proposed. applicability theory state extended. influence Coriolis force buoyancy on layers analyzed. found play important role behavior rotation, it shifts layers. Under conditions, such effects can be classified according dominant force: viscous, Coriolis, or inertial. occurs. induced suppresses effect force, suppression increases with difference. variation Prandtl Prt also obtained.

Assessment of inflow boundary conditions for compressible turbulent boundary layers
A description of different inflow methodologies for turbulent boundary layers, including validity and limitations, is presented. We show that the use of genuine periodic boundary conditions, in which no alteration of the governing equations is made, results in growing mean flow and decaying turbulence. Premises under which the usage is valid are presented and explained, and comparisons with the...

متن کاملScaling of the turbulent/non-turbulent interface in boundary layers
Scaling of the interface that demarcates a turbulent boundary layer from the non-turbulent free stream is sought using theoretical reasoning and experimental evidence in a zero-pressure-gradient boundary layer. The data-analysis, utilising particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurements at four different Reynolds numbers (δuτ/ν = 1200–14 500), indicates the presence of a viscosity dominated inter...
متن کاملZero crossings of velocity fluctuations in turbulent boundary layers
In this paper some results are presented on the statistical properties of zero crossings of turbulent velocity fluctuations in boundary layers over a wide range of Reynolds numbers. The earlier finding that the probability density function (pdf) of the intervals between successive zero crossings of the streamwise velocity fluctuation u can be approximated by two exponentials, ,* each with its o...
متن کاملTransient thermoelastic analysis of FGM rotating thick cylindrical pressure vessels under arbitrary boundary and initial conditions
Assuming arbitrary boundary and initial conditions, a transient thermo-elastic analysis of a rotating thick cylindrical pressure vessel made of functionally graded material (FGM) subjected to axisymmetric mechanical and transient thermal loads is presented. Time-dependent thermal and mechanical boundary conditions are assumed to act on the boundaries of the vessel. Material properties of the ve...
